I was fortunate to travel on the QE2’s maiden voyage from New York to Southampton in 1969. Taking afternoon tea with Lord Mountbatten and his daughter was one highlight I will always remember. The ship was magnificent, the food divine and the dancing went on all through the night. But of course I expected no less of Cunard.
