Costa Luminosa Farewell: by J.P.

In my last BLOG on Luminosa we covered The Ship, The Food, Room
Service, Late Night Snacks, Entertainment, Excursions & Tours – then our internet connection gave up and I promised to conclude our observations on our return to Sydney. Well it’s a week later and Sandra and I have just got over our jet lag. Sandra went back to work next day and I had a date with the QM2 at Sydney’s Garden Island Naval Base, the only place big enough for her to berth.
Back to Luminosa. Overall Sandra and I enjoyed our cruise very much. The long flight, although on a great airline, was a little tiring. I would suggest that a stopover in Dubai and this cruise would be an ideal way to break up a trip to or from Europe.
As you know, I believe the ship is the destination. The fact that Costa spends 2 nights at the beginning of the cruise and 2 at the conclusion in Dubai is a plus factor. Five star hotels are very expensive here and one could look as getting the cruise free, when considering money saved on hotels. Dubai is fantastic and is worth the cost of the cruise alone.
The ship is 4.5 star in my opinion with food and entertainment 4 star. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the multi-lingual staff aimed to please. The multi-lingual Cruise Director was one of the best ever.
John.
