Frank Johnson’s Widow Presents Awards

Joan JohnsonFrank Johnson’s Widow Presents Awards:  The 2009 ICCA Australian Consultant of the Year and New Zealand Consultant of the Year each received the inaugural Frank Johnson memorial award at the International Cruise Council Australasia’s annual black-tie presentation dinner (see previous JP BLOG).

The late Frank Johnson was World Travel Headquarters director who block-booked and chartered ships for the incredibly successful Australian Women’s Weekly World Discovery Tours.  Johnson launched the AWW voyages between Australia and the UK with Orcades 3 in 1966. The following year the Himalaya was used for what became an annual event until 1974. His widow Joan, presented this years awards.

    Good to see recognition being given to such a pioneer in the cruise industry. My mother used to go on the Women’s Weekly World Discovery Tours. Great pictures in your blogs – big enough to see.
