Flying Sydney-Dubai to Costa Launch

Flying Sydney-Dubai to Costa Launch on Emirates.

Although I could be considered a seasoned traveler, I still get exited when heading off to a new adventure.  It’s Sunday morning and my dog knows I am about to leave.  From the time I pull out my suitcase, she knows, there are no secrets here (it’s a girl dog – they know everything).

I’m extra excited because this will be our first flight on the new A380-800 Emirates super plane.  We are seated in economy and the airline boasts many new features, including 1200 channels of entertainment, so there’s no chance of being bored during the 14h 45m flight.

When I woke up this morning,  a reminder from Emirates was waiting on my computer, offering on-line check-in and detailing all the in-flight services.  Also it gave weather forecasts in Dubai for the next week – very impressive.

My editorial assistant and partner Sandra, hates sitting next to me,  she says I encroach on her seat (I’m not that big).  We book seats opposite each other, separated by an aisle.  This works really well because strangers sitting next to me rarely complain.

Running around doing last minute things, getting reviews off to Sally (Editor, Cruise Passenger Magazine), charging camera batteries and feeding the dog a big meal (it’s got to last for 2 weeks).

Our flight leaves at 9.45pm and arrives Dubai 5.30am.  Please keep reading, I will be blogging from Dubai and from the cruise to follow,  which I am sure will be a great Costa experience.

Phew! I’ve just finished “armchair” travelling through Europe on a River Boat (via your blogs) and now I’ll have to get my mindset ready for the Arab Emirates. Do you ever slow down? Having only myself stopped at the airports at Dubai and Abu Dhabi while en route to other places I will be interested to know what else there is to see in this region. Bon voyage to you both.
